A resolution passed by Legislature in 1997, declared the fourth week of April is as Golf Week. Golf Week emphasizes the economic importance of golf in South Carolina.

Golf Week usually begins with the final round of the Heritage on Hilton Head where the smiling faces and beautiful places of South Carolina are emphasized on national television. The week is highlighted by a Wednesday evening Legislative Reception where legislators and golf industry leaders gather. Thursday is the Legislative Classic golf tournament. This tournament serves as a recreational gathering as well as a fundraising event to benefit junior golf in South Carolina.
