In 2006 the SCJGF became one of three Charitable Partners of the BMW Charity Pro-Am and for the third consecutive year, had the privilege to exclusively sell VIP tickets to a concert by Josh Kelley and the Steve Azar Band.  These tickets included access to the floor, an open bar, and tournament credentials good for all four days of golf at the BMW Charity Pro-Am, which was moved this year to different venues: Thornblade Club in Greenville, Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg and Brigth’s Creek Golf Club in Mill Spring, N.C.  Through the ticket sales, the SCJGF raised money to support the operational costs of both The First Tee of Greenville and The First Tee of Spartanburg as well as other upstate junior golf programs.

The concert was Friday night of the tournament which was held May 15-18, 2008.  The event also helped support 19 upstate South Carolina and western North Carolina charities benefiting from the BMW Charity Pro-Am golf tournament.  The BMW Charity Pro-Am is the only tournament on the Nationwide Tour where amateurs and celebrities are grouped with Nationwide Tour professionals in a three-day better-ball competition.  Amateurs, celebrities and pros rotated between each of the three courses on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with the 14 lowest scoring pro-amateur/pro-celebrity teams advancing to play Sunday’s final round at Thornblade Club.

Each year South Carolina Charities Inc., is faced with the challenge of disbursing these funds with community needs continuing to grow.  The SCJGF would like to thank the Board and Staff at SCCI and the BMW Charity Pro-Am for having the belief and recognizing the results of our efforts to support their event.
